Weight Loss After
Pregnancy - A Golden Opportunity
At some
stage or another most women who have had a baby will need
to consider weight loss after
pregnancy. As will all things there is a right way
and a wrong way to approach this. One that will enhance
your long term health and another that could see you on a
constant lifelong battle with your
weight.
During pregnancy your body changes in amazing
ways, you become more flexible around the joints to allow
for the growth of your baby and your posture changes to
allow you to carry the new weight load.
These
changes put large amounts of stress on the joints and
post pregnancy exercise should be structured with this in
mind. No twisting or ballistic stretching movements
should be done. A slow gradual, consistent approach to
exercise should be taken.
Your
body has been designed to change during pregnancy, but it
has been equally well designed to recover afterwards. The
hormones that helped change your body in the first place
will assist you in making the opposite changes. Your
metabolic rate will be higher, even more so if
breastfeeding and other hormones are produced in an
attempt to promote the healing and recovery
process.
Immediately
after pregnancy, your body is primed to lose weight and
firm up again, but you must harness this power. It is
possible with a little planning to get in to much better
shape than you were before you became
pregnant.
The key
here is to work out a programme that includes the
essential components to your recovery: -
Adequate
rest, Pelvic floor strengthening, regular low intensity
activity including stomach strengthening exercises and a
healthy diet.
Setting
some realistic time framed goals can be a great way to
keep you motivated and on track. They should be realistic
and not too aggressive. Don’t radically cut
down on calories and don’t exercise excessively, a gentle
structured walking programme should be enough for the
first 8 weeks.
If you
want a specific post pregnancy plan to help with your
weight loss after pregnancy
that includes essential pelvic floor techniques, a unique
eating plan which ensures the right types and quantities
of foods are eaten, a structured walking programme and
vital stomach tightening exercises, then ‘The Baby Belly Fat Loss Plan’ could be
